About this video
Transitioning to the Darce choke from a palm-to-palm grip:
- Start in Knee on Belly with your partner's hand on your hip and establish a palm-to-palm grip.
- Apply pressure on the neck and sprawl back to cover their arm.
- Hook the top leg of your partner to prevent them from flattening out on the mat, which is a common defense against the Darce.
- Point your knee towards your partner's head to compress their body, making it difficult for them to escape.
- Use the palm-to-palm grip to tighten your hold and prepare for a quick transition to the Darce.
- Push your partner's head slightly with the side of your hand, then uppercut your hand through to deepen the choke.
- Perform a bicep curl motion with your choking arm to maintain tightness and prevent your partner from posturing up.
- Secure the choke by grabbing your bicep with the choking hand and placing your other hand on your partner's shoulder.
- Ensure your partner's arm is cleared and your knee is pointing towards their head.
- Tuck your elbow and shoulder, drop to your side, and squeeze to finish the choke.
- If you're the one applying the choke, collapse onto the side opposite the arm that's through, squeeze, and secure the finish.
