About this video

Transitioning to the Darce choke from a palm-to-palm grip:

  1. Start in Knee on Belly with your partner's hand on your hip and establish a palm-to-palm grip.
  2. Apply pressure on the neck and sprawl back to cover their arm.
  3. Hook the top leg of your partner to prevent them from flattening out on the mat, which is a common defense against the Darce.
  4. Point your knee towards your partner's head to compress their body, making it difficult for them to escape.
  5. Use the palm-to-palm grip to tighten your hold and prepare for a quick transition to the Darce.
  6. Push your partner's head slightly with the side of your hand, then uppercut your hand through to deepen the choke.
  7. Perform a bicep curl motion with your choking arm to maintain tightness and prevent your partner from posturing up.
  8. Secure the choke by grabbing your bicep with the choking hand and placing your other hand on your partner's shoulder.
  9. Ensure your partner's arm is cleared and your knee is pointing towards their head.
  10. Tuck your elbow and shoulder, drop to your side, and squeeze to finish the choke.
  11. If you're the one applying the choke, collapse onto the side opposite the arm that's through, squeeze, and secure the finish.
