About this video
Executing a Darce choke from the bottom of side control involves a sneaky setup that can catch an opponent off guard. Begin by preventing the opponent from blocking your hip on the inside. Instead, aim to underhook their arm and get their elbow to the outside of your hip.
- Use your right hand to create a barrier against the opponent's face with your forearm and hand.
- With your other hand, grab the opponent's tricep or shoulder, depending on what feels more comfortable.
- Plant your feet and prepare to use your grips and legs to slide underneath the opponent into a Darce choke position.
- Execute a hip escape and simultaneously use your grips and legs to slide under the opponent.
- As you slide through, bring the right hand that was across the opponent's face through to the other side.
- With your left hand, secure your bicep and grab the opponent's back.
- Squeeze and finish the Darce choke by walking towards the opponent to tighten the submission.
Key points include keeping your feet close to your butt for maximum power during the hip escape, maintaining pressure with the hand across the face, and ensuring a tight grip on the bicep and opponent's back before finishing the choke.
