About this video
Executing a Darce choke without the arm involves a slight modification to the traditional technique. When the opponent is in side control and prevents the underhook, thus blocking the arm from being included in the choke, the following steps should be taken:
- Attempt to initiate a Darce choke as usual, but when the opponent closes their elbow to prevent the underhook, proceed without including their arm.
- Insert the right hand through as if performing a regular Darce choke, aiming to reach as deep as possible.
- Instead of grabbing the back with the left hand, bring it in tightly to increase the choke's pressure.
- Secure the grip by grabbing the bicep with the left hand.
- Squeeze tightly, pull the opponent's head towards the chest, and drop the body down to finish the choke.
This variation, known as the no arm Darce, is a sneaky alternative to the traditional Darce choke and can be highly effective when the opponent is defending against the inclusion of their arm.
