About this video
Counter the defense against a Darce choke from the turtle position when the opponent blocks your elbow:
- Start by attempting the Darce choke. Your opponent will likely close their elbow to their body to block your elbow and prevent the choke.
- Shoot your left hand around their neck as if going for a Guillotine choke, but instead of a regular grip, insert your hand super deep, making them feel the threat with just one hand.
- Your opponent has two choices: either they hold on and potentially tap from the pressure, or they defend against the Guillotine, which is what you want.
- If they continue to pin your elbow, squeeze to submit them with the deep Guillotine.
- More commonly, as you apply pressure, they will release your elbow to defend the Guillotine. This is your cue to act.
- Once they defend the Guillotine, their hand will come up to control it. Use this moment to free your other hand.
- Shoot your now-free hand through the gap created by their defense, returning to the initial Darce choke setup.
- Give your opponent a turn to adjust their position, reinsert your hand, clasp your hands together, and finish the Darce choke.
This sequence uses the Guillotine as a fake-out to open up the defense, allowing you to return to and complete the Darce choke.
