About this video

Clearing the arm is a crucial step before setting up the Darce choke from the knee on belly position. The following technique is used to clear the opponent's arm from the hip:

  1. Start with the opponent's hand on your hip, which makes it difficult to insert your hand for the Darce.
  2. Instead of forcing the hand through, clasp your hands palm to palm near the opponent's neck.
  3. Apply pressure with your forearm on the opponent's neck, folding their head and chin into their chest.
  4. While applying pressure, sprawl one or both legs out to cover and block the opponent's arm.
  5. Use your toes to walk back and come around the opponent's arm, securing it with your shoulder, arm, and leg.
  6. Once the arm is cleared and controlled, you can proceed to set up the Darce choke and its variations.

Remember, the key is to compress the opponent's body by folding their head in and sprawling out to effectively clear the arm.
