About this video
Introducing an alternative finish to the Darce choke using the lapel:
- Start in the perfect position to finish the Darce, with the opponent's hand and leg cleared.
- If unable to get your hand all the way through to your bicep, use the lapel to finish.
- Extract your left lapel with your right hand through and feed it to the hand that's executing the Darce.
- Grab the lapel as deep as possible, though it may be awkward and not allow for a very deep grip.
- With the lapel in hand, establish a second grip similar to a baseball bat choke.
- Use the bottom hand to pull the lapel towards you and the top hand to press down, replicating a palm-to-palm squeeze.
- To finish, pull the bottom lapel in, drop the elbow across the opponent's neck, and shift your body towards the mat.
- Aim to place your forehead on the mat, creating significant pressure on the opponent's neck.
- Slide your forearm into the opponent's neck and move forward, using your body weight to secure the submission.
- If the forearm is over the jaw, adjust to ensure it's over the side of the neck to block the artery effectively.
- Combine the pulling of the lapel and the blocking of the artery with your forearm, using your feet to push off the mat and drive your forearm towards the mat for the tap.
