About this video
Executing a rolling finish from the D'Arce choke involves maintaining the choke through your opponent's defensive roll. When you have the D'Arce choke set up, with their arm and leg cleared, and your hands clasped, your opponent may attempt to escape by rolling. Instead of letting go to reposition, you should roll with them to maintain control.
- Anticipate your opponent's roll as they try to escape the D'Arce choke.
- As they initiate the roll, do not release the choke. Instead, roll with your opponent.
- Keep their leg hooked throughout the roll to prevent them from posturing up and escaping.
- Continue to apply pressure and squeeze the choke as you complete the roll.
- Ensure you maintain a tight grip on their leg, similar to an Ashi Garami or half guard position, to control their movement.
- Keep your hand on their shoulder and squeeze to finish the choke.
- Do not open your leg or give them space to escape; keep everything tight to secure the finish.
- Regardless of the specific grip variation you have, the choke can be finished effectively from this position.
Remember, when your opponent tries to roll out of the D'Arce choke, do not post or let go. Instead, complete the roll with them, maintain control, and finish the choke.
