About this video
Executing a recounter to the tilt sweep from bottom half guard:
- When playing bottom half guard and the opponent tries to control the bottom pant leg and reach for the lapel, immediately grab their wrist.
- Rotate the grabbed wrist towards your body and simultaneously grab the outside of their pant leg.
- Pull yourself close to the opponent and start to kick your leg out while turning to initiate the sweep.
- If the opponent posts their hand and sits their hip to the mat to counter, making themselves heavy, proceed to the next step.
- Convert your top leg into a butterfly hook and begin to kick that leg away from you, applying pressure on the opponent.
- While kicking, turn your hips and perform a back step out of the position.
- Continue the motion to turn onto your knees, release the wrist, and apply a cross face.
- Secure a far side underhook and transition into side control to complete the recounter.
