About this video
Passing half guard involves using knee contact to advance position. When the opponent hooks the ankle with their downside arm to create separation and rotate underneath, it's essential to break this grip immediately.
- Upon breaking the grip, post the hand closest to the opponent's head on the mat to prevent their rotation.
- Underhook and control the arm closest to the chest to maintain dominance.
- Step over the opponent's head and cut the knee to the mat, setting the hip down as well.
- Hook the opponent's leg with the foot to control their movement.
- Turn and pull the leg out, establishing a Kimura grip on the arm.
- Complete the technique by finishing the shoulder lock with the Kimura grip.
Throughout the pass, it's crucial to manage grips effectively, maintain control over the opponent's arm, and secure the lock by transitioning smoothly into the Kimura grip.
