About this video

Executing an inverted arm lock from the bottom half guard involves several key steps to control and submit the opponent:

  1. Start by framing against the opponent's bicep and shoulder, using a knee shield to maintain space and prevent them from flattening you out.
  2. Attempt to get an underhook by kicking out the knee shield and moving to the side. If the opponent anticipates this and back steps to attempt a kneebar, immediately react.
  3. Figure-four your legs to protect the one being targeted for the kneebar, with the free leg stepping over and locking in place.
  4. With your free arm, push against the side of the opponent's head to prevent them from posturing up.
  5. Underhook the arm closest to your shoulders and push the opponent's head away to create space.
  6. Open your legs and quickly step over the back of the opponent's head, pulling their head down while stretching them away from you to break their posture.
  7. With the opponent's arm trapped and their posture broken, you can finish the inverted arm lock. For added control, figure-four your legs again and apply pressure to the elbow to secure the submission.

This sequence effectively traps the opponent's arm, leg, and head, allowing for a tight and controlled submission from the bottom half guard position.
