About this video
Executing an arm drag from bottom half guard:
- Maintain a frame on the opponent's shoulder to prevent them from controlling your head.
- As the opponent attempts to underhook your leg, slip the hand that was on their bicep underneath and reach across to grab their armpit. Secure a deep grip for an effective hook.
- With the frame still on their shoulder, kick the leg they are underhooking straight down to the mat.
- As you kick the leg down, release the frame on their shoulder and pull their shoulder towards you, coming up onto the elbow of the arm that is performing the drag.
- Immediately reach over their back. If wearing a Gi, grab the lapel; if No-Gi, secure a grip underneath their elbow.
- Turn onto your knee, pulling the opponent towards you, set your hook, and take their back.
