About this video
Executing a back take from the bottom half guard when the opponent turns to Reverse De La Riva:
- Maintain a strong frame and knee shield in the bottom half guard.
- When the opponent turns to Reverse De La Riva and reaches to push your leg off, immediately trap their arm by grabbing at the bicep elbow joint to limit their range of motion.
- With your free hand, go underneath their chin to cross face them and reach for their far shoulder, securing a grip with your fingertips.
- Convert your top leg into a butterfly hook right below their knee.
- Lift with the butterfly hook while simultaneously rotating your body using the cross face and arm control to turn the opponent onto their shoulder.
- Transform the butterfly hook into a grapevine position behind their calf.
- Roll them in the opposite direction and insert your other hook to establish back control.
