About this video
Adopting a strategy of simultaneous submission threats from back control, the focus is on setting up a bow and arrow choke, but being prepared to transition to a wrist lock or armbar if the opponent attempts to escape. The initial grip is crucial, and it's recommended to secure it early on.
- Start with back control and aim to set up the bow and arrow choke by securing the initial grip on the collar.
- Place your foot on the opponent's hip and prepare to transition to the side for the choke.
- If the opponent escapes their head out of the choke, immediately transition to the wrist lock by bringing your leg over their shoulder and grabbing their wrist with your palm down.
- Ensure your elbow creates a frame to prevent the opponent from turning into you.
- Pull the opponent's wrist towards you for the wrist lock submission, or transition to an armbar if the opportunity presents itself.
- For the wrist lock, keep the grip tight and pull the opponent's palm towards their shoulder, applying pressure with your leg over their head if needed.
This approach allows for fluid transitions between the bow and arrow choke, wrist lock, and armbar, capitalizing on the opponent's escape attempts to secure a submission.
