Adapting back reset techniques to accommodate various body types, flexibility, and mobility levels is essential. Jiu-Jitsu should be accessible to everyone, and there are multiple ways to achieve the same goal.
- If an opponent removes your foot and hops over, and you struggle with flexibility or have knee issues, you can still reset by sitting them on their butt.
- Position your shoulder behind their head and your head next to theirs, pushing their head forward while pulling their collar back to create discomfort.
- Adjust their sitting position to be uncomfortable, not fully sitting up or lying down, forcing them to engage their core.
- Maintain a tight connection with your chest to their back, and your shoulder and head close to theirs, to prevent their escape.
- When ready, you can reset the back position by hiding your feet behind their hips and entering hooks around the hips.
- If you cannot maintain the hook or place your knee in their back due to physical limitations, walk your foot back and turn to your knees, then proceed to reset the position.
- Follow your opponent's movements closely, and when the opportunity arises, reestablish hooks and control.
- Ensure that you are pulling them back and not allowing them to sit comfortably, which would alleviate the pressure on their neck and make it easier for them to sit.
These adjustments ensure that you can maintain control and reset the back position regardless of personal physical constraints, demonstrating the adaptability of Jiu-Jitsu techniques.
