About this video
Approaching back control without knee entry involves using double under grips to secure the opponent's collar tightly, similar to a Muay Thai clinch, and pulling down to apply pressure on their neck. Elbows should be brought into the hips to maintain a tight attachment.
- Step up with both feet and sit on the opponent's tailbone, ensuring weight is shifted back to prevent them from rolling forward and dislodging the position.
- Open the opponent's defense by leaning to one side to insert the first hook.
- After inserting the hook, fall diagonally to shift the opponent's weight off their hips and immediately control their hand to prevent them from blocking the second hook.
- If the opponent blocks the second hook with a stiff arm, focus on the lapel grip instead. Release the leg and secure the lapel tightly.
- Adjust the position by hip escaping to bring the shoulder behind the opponent's head, ensuring a tight choke setup.
- Use the knee to pressure the opponent's shoulder and either hook their leg or control their arm to finish the choke.
- Throughout the finish, maintain a side position, using the wrist to pull in and the hips to push back, ensuring the opponent's head is blocked and cannot loop out to escape.
The key to this technique is maintaining a tight clinch with the double under grips, controlling the opponent's posture, and transitioning smoothly to secure back control and finish with a choke.
