The goal is to stay attached and prevent escape by leaning to the side to open the opponent's elbow, creating space for the hook to enter.
- While rolling to the corner, maintain the grip and attempt to insert the hook, anticipating the opponent's defense.
- If the opponent stiff arms to block the hook, release the lapel and reach for the opposite lapel to attempt a choke.
- In case the opponent tucks their chin to prevent the choke, hip escape to allow the leg to come up, trapping the opponent's foot if necessary.
- Unable to choke, let go of the lapel, grab the shin, and adjust to create a figure-four lock with the knee in the pit of the opponent's arm.
- Instead of going for a triangle, attack the shoulder by pulling the opponent's elbow across the body while staying on the side.
- Extend the hips as if performing an armbar, but focus the pressure on the shoulder, keeping the chest down and staying attached to the opponent.
