About this video
Basic entry into side control with arm trapped:
- Start with the opponent's arm trapped on the outside and establish proper head control, placing your shoulder in their neck and on their face.
- Bring the knee closest to the trapped arm up and slide it down to the wrist, securing the arm.
- Slide your back leg over the opponent's arm to gain two-on-one control.
- Switch your base off your leg and sprawl out your hips to plant your weight on the opponent.
Advanced entry when the opponent is playing tight and reframing:
- When unable to use the outside leg, start with the back knee and fake a knee-on-belly to create an opening.
- Posture up slightly for visibility and slide the knee down, peeling the opponent's hand away from their body.
- Pin the hand down with your other foot, close to the wrist.
- Pick up your hip to switch your position and make a base over the opponent's arm.
- Sprawl your hip back to place your weight and secure the position.
