About this video
Initiate an armbar from the closed guard by breaking the opponent's grip on your pant leg. Use their grip attempt as a trap to set up the submission:
- Enter the closed guard and anticipate the opponent's attempt to control your pant leg to limit your movement.
- Rotate your body to bring the opponent's arm closer to you. Use your elbow to catch their wrist and break the grip.
- Kick out to free your leg while maintaining control of the arm.
- Bring your leg over the opponent's head, ensuring you pinch their elbow tightly into your armpit.
- Keep a firm grip throughout the movement, pinch your knees together, and elevate your hips to secure the armbar.
- If the opponent controls your leg, rotate your body to bring your knee towards you. The wider you can make your knee, the better.
- Continue rotating to position the pit of your knee (like the armpit) to turn into the opponent.
- Use your elbow to grab their wrist and break the grip by kicking out.
- Once the grip is broken, secure the arm tightly, bring your leg over their head, pinch your knees, and hip up to finish the armbar.
Remember to maintain control and apply pressure with your knees and hips to effectively execute the armbar submission.
