About this video

Execute an armbar when an opponent defends a sweep by posting their foot:

  1. Start by breaking the opponent down, bringing your elbows out and knees to your chest to achieve a clinching position.
  2. Begin to bridge, moving your head towards their leg as you come up.
  3. When they post their foot to block the sweep, note that their knee is still on the mat, creating a space near their shin.
  4. Grab the space at their shin, then pull their ankle towards you while simultaneously pushing your hips out.
  5. Aim to knock them over the hip of the knee that's on the mat by pulling and pushing in opposite directions.
  6. As they fall over, release the clinching arm and swing your leg over to secure the armbar.

This technique is effective when the opponent is on their toes or the ball of their foot, creating the necessary space to initiate the armbar.
