About this video

Execute an inverted armlock when an opponent defends against a triangle choke from the knee down position:

  1. Start by breaking the opponent down, with their elbows out and your knees pulled to your chest in a clinching position.
  2. Open your guard and as the opponent tries to disengage and pull you to the side, place your knee on the mat.
  3. When they try to move their arm outside to avoid the triangle choke, kick your free leg over the side of their face to create space.
  4. Instead of seeking a Gogoplata, use the created space to underhook their arm and transition into an inverted arm lock position.
  5. Ensure you maintain a grip on their elbow to prevent them from escaping and use your top arm to underhook for the armbar.

This technique prevents the opponent from flattening you out or escaping, and sets up the inverted armbar effectively.
