About this video
Attacking with an armlock when an opponent defends against a sweep:
- Start by pulling the opponent's elbows out and bringing your knees to your chest to establish a tight clinch.
- Open your closed guard and begin to bridge, simultaneously getting a grip on the opponent's pant leg as you start to invert.
- If the opponent applies pressure to prevent the inversion and movement, look to bring your leg over their head.
- As soon as your leg makes contact with their forehead, pull your arm straight back towards your waist, aiming to catch their wrist in your armpit.
- Pop your hips forward to finish the armlock.
- If the opponent tries to defend by going belly down, it will be ineffective as you extend your hips forward and pull back with your elbow, securing the armlock.
