About this video

Initiate from the closed guard by breaking down the opponent's posture. Pull their elbows out while bringing your knees to your chest to collapse their posture effectively.

  1. Secure a clinch position by placing one arm over the back of the opponent's neck and the other pulling down to the mat, focusing on keeping their posture broken.
  2. Open the closed guard and place the foot on the same side as the arm over the neck on the mat. Bridge off that foot and turn onto the opposite shoulder.
  3. Maintain the clinch and ensure your head is connected to the opponent's chest. Look for the inside of their pant leg near the knee, rather than the hamstring.
  4. Prepare to invert by bridging and creating space between your hips and the mat, preventing the opponent from flattening you out.
  5. As you invert, bring your head towards the opponent's knees and kick the bridging leg up, turning onto your shoulders.
  6. When the opponent reacts by placing their free hand on the mat to prevent being swept over their head, use the grip on their pant leg to sweep them over their hip.
  7. Kick across their body with the grip on the pant leg, maintaining the clinch, and sweep them flat onto their back.
  8. Finish the sweep with your inside leg across their torso and the other leg behind their head, ready for subsequent control or attacks.
