About this video
Escape to knees and get underhook from one hook in position:
- Defend the choke and push down on the leg while moving your hips up.
- If unable to place a strong hook behind the opponent's knee, switch grips to control their arm with both hands.
- Turn and place both knees on the mat, pulling up on the opponent's arm and driving your head into them.
- Walk your knees close to the opponent to lift your right arm and break the gap between your shoulder and their chest.
- Once your shoulder breaks the gap, bring your elbow out and hug their body.
- Move your head to the other side of the opponent's head, transitioning into a top half guard smashing position.
- Combine moves by attempting to place the hook and transitioning to 50-50 or controlling the arm and coming up to the knees.
- Clear your shoulder, lift the elbow, control the body, and move your head to the other side to end in a strong half guard position.
