About this video
Bridge and turn escape against crossed feet from back control:
- Start on the choking side, defending the choke with hips up and good hip positioning.
- Break the grip and secure a two-on-one control.
- If the opponent crosses their feet, identify the crossing pattern:
- If the top leg is locked underneath the other foot, straighten your leg, push, and proceed with the escape as usual.
- If the bottom leg creates a wall, making it impossible to break the grip, accept that their legs will remain wrapped around your body.
- To avoid ending up in mount or having the opponent retake the back, aim to force top closed guard.
- Set your legs for the escape:
- Flatten the leg closest to the opponent to the floor.
- Swing the farthest leg from right to left, stomping the foot to the floor and straightening the other leg.
- Come up into a sprawl position, placing the right knee to the mat and leaning the head towards the right knee.
- Bring the left knee up and posture immediately to avoid closed guard attacks and prepare for passing.
