About this video
Steps to take the back from turtle position:
- Position your hips directly on top of your opponent's hips to prevent them from escaping or rolling out.
- Control their shoulder by gripping their trap muscle and get a deep grip across their waist with your other hand.
- Ensure your knees are pinching and controlling their hips to maintain control even if they try to roll or move.
- Look for a cross grip with your hand that is controlling their waist, grabbing their opposite wrist.
- Use your other hand to grip their bicep and pull their elbow to their ribs, creating space to insert your hook.
- Insert your right leg hook and fall to the right side while maintaining control.
- Immediately start threatening with a choke using your right hand. This can either secure a submission or force your opponent to defend, allowing you to place the second hook.
- Maintain control and adjust as necessary to secure both hooks and establish a dominant back control position.
Key points to remember:
- Always prioritize control over rushing to insert hooks.
- Use the transition to attack the neck as your opponent will be focused on defending the hooks.
- Maintain tight grips and positioning to prevent your opponent from escaping.
