About this video

Steps to take the back from turtle position:

  1. Position your hips directly on top of your opponent's hips to prevent them from escaping or rolling out.
  2. Control their shoulder by gripping their trap muscle and get a deep grip across their waist with your other hand.
  3. Ensure your knees are pinching and controlling their hips to maintain control even if they try to roll or move.
  4. Look for a cross grip with your hand that is controlling their waist, grabbing their opposite wrist.
  5. Use your other hand to grip their bicep and pull their elbow to their ribs, creating space to insert your hook.
  6. Insert your right leg hook and fall to the right side while maintaining control.
  7. Immediately start threatening with a choke using your right hand. This can either secure a submission or force your opponent to defend, allowing you to place the second hook.
  8. Maintain control and adjust as necessary to secure both hooks and establish a dominant back control position.

Key points to remember:

  • Always prioritize control over rushing to insert hooks.
  • Use the transition to attack the neck as your opponent will be focused on defending the hooks.
  • Maintain tight grips and positioning to prevent your opponent from escaping.
