Counter to the first back escape:
- When your opponent achieves solid hip positioning, immediately cross your feet to prevent losing the bottom hook.
- Place your left hand on their shoulder and your right hand in their armpit. Keep the shoulder tight to your chest while moving your head slightly back to create space for the armpit hook.
- Straighten your right arm to apply slight pressure to the back of their head, preventing their head from touching the mat.
- Open your legs and use your left hook to pull them up while performing a reverse hip escape with your right foot. This pulls your hips underneath them.
- Adjust your foot and repeat the hip escape until you regain an advantageous back control position.
- Once in position, connect a two-on-one grip and secure your control by either placing your foot on their hip or locking in a body triangle.
- If your opponent drives back over, use your knee to create a wall and continue hip escaping to maintain control.
- Drill the technique with multiple hip escapes to simulate a realistic scenario where your opponent resists and fights to escape.
