About this video
When placing the first hook and unable to break down a standing opponent:
- Attempt to place the first hook and try to break the opponent down. If unsuccessful, maintain the hook and grab their shoulder.
- Kick off the hook and come up, stacking your hips on top of theirs. Avoid locking the seatbelt and going too high to prevent falling off.
- Keep your hips low for better control. If you start to fall off, revert to the previous technique.
- To progress the position, place the hooks while keeping your hips low. You can switch to a body triangle if preferred.
- If the opponent tries to shake you off by lowering their head, switch to double underhooks for better stability.
- If the opponent stands tall, use the seatbelt grip and attempt a rear naked choke from standing. If they try to shake you off, switch to double underhooks and keep your hips back.
