About this video
Transitioning from the waiter sweep to taking the back from the single leg X position:
- Start in the single leg X position, pulling the opponent's knee in to lift their foot off the mat and scoop underneath, bringing their leg onto your shoulder. Maintain a tight pinch with your head and shoulder, keeping your knees together.
- If you're unable to execute the pendulum sweep due to the opponent's strong base, look for the opportunity to take the back instead.
- Lift with your left leg to create space, and hook your right foot onto the opponent's calf.
- Use your right hand to hold onto the opponent's side, providing an anchor as you move out the back door.
- Pull the opponent back into you with the hand on their back, bringing their butt to the mat.
- Secure the seatbelt grip before inserting the hooks. This allows you to maintain control and follow the opponent's movements.
- Once you have the seatbelt, insert your hooks to secure the back control.
- Ensure the bottom arm of the seatbelt is the top hand, and stay tight to the opponent's chest with your head close to their shoulder and neck, positioning yourself for a potential finish.
