About this video

Executing a basic single leg X-sweep when the opponent keeps their opposite leg far back:

  1. Start in the single leg X position, aiming to grab the pant leg of the opponent's far leg for an ideal sweep setup.
  2. If the opponent steps their leg back, making the pant grip unreachable, maintain the overhook on the near leg.
  3. Remove the left foot from the opponent's hip and prepare to use both feet to create momentum.
  4. Kick upwards with the right foot while using the left foot to push off the mat, forcing the opponent to step towards you.
  5. As the opponent steps in, re-establish the single leg X position.
  6. Use the opponent's reaction to come back up to their feet to your advantage, capturing the momentum for the sweep.
  7. Hold onto the pant leg, sweep the opponent to their back, and immediately come up on top to secure sweep points.

This technique allows you to effectively sweep an opponent who is defensively positioning their legs to prevent your preferred grips.
