About this video
Executing a throw by to back-take when the opponent comes up to their knees:
- Start by going into the leg drag, posting your hand on the inside of the opponent's knee, straightening out, and turning your knee out.
- Step forward and change grips, dropping one hand to the opponent's ankle and using the opposite hand to push on their knee, going above it.
- Slap across into the leg drag, dropping your weight immediately, securing a hand on the collar, elbow in, knee to the mat, and keeping the opposite knee close to the opponent's hip.
- As the opponent starts coming up to their knees, slide your left hook in first, staying on their side and keeping your foot flexed to wrap tightly around their calf.
- Avoid stepping over the opponent's back directly; instead, stay low to the ground to prevent being rolled over.
- Use your right foot posted on the mat to push back, bringing the opponent into you and creating space for the second hook.
- Secure the seatbelt grip and position yourself to get the second hook in, even if the opponent brings their knee tight to their chest.
- If necessary, cross your feet and arch your hips into the opponent's back to secure the position.
