About this video
Counter the leg lasso from Reverse De La Riva and transition to leg drag:
- When the opponent applies a leg lasso, immediately circle your hand out to prevent it from getting tight. Your palm should face the opponent as you grip near their knee.
- Place your left hand on the opponent's collar to control their upper body.
- Drop your elbow below the opponent's arm and back step away, pushing their leg down to the mat to pin it.
- As you push the leg down, come up and start spinning to the side to enter the leg drag position.
- Keep your knee close to the opponent's hip and control their belt or back with your hand. Keep your elbow low and your head down to maintain control.
- Lean your weight into the side where you have the leg drag to prevent the opponent from escaping their leg.
- Ensure your knee is on the mat and not raised, to stop the opponent from freeing their leg.
- Maintain tightness by keeping the opponent's knee close to their hip, preventing them from scooting out.
- From this position, you can progress to a pass, submission, or take the back, depending on what you feel comfortable with.
