About this video
Passing the Reverse De La Riva when the opponent attempts to spin under:
- As the opponent starts spinning under for the back take, post your hand on the mat to prevent them from advancing.
- Immediately drop your knee next to the opponent's head to control their movement, being careful not to knee them in the head.
- Bring your left arm over their spinning leg and place your hand on the mat, while extending your right leg to flatten their leg against the mat.
- Place your left foot behind the opponent's ankle to secure the position.
- Reach with your right hand for the back of the opponent's pants.
- Transition from sitting on your left hip to your right hip, which will help you hop over into the leg drag position.
- Drive your knee to the mat and control the opponent's body with both hands to secure the pass.
- Prevent the opponent from spinning under by dropping your weight and hip to the mat as they begin their movement.
- After extending your right leg and placing your left hook, use your right hand to grab the back of their pants and hop over to the leg drag.
- Control the collar and use your free hand to lift their hip off the mat, limiting their movement and securing a strong position for the pass.
This technique effectively counters the opponent's attempt to take the back from Reverse De La Riva and transitions into a dominant leg drag position.
