About this video

Transitioning to Reverse De La Riva (RDLR) to set up leg drags:

  1. Start from the De La Riva guard, grab the opponent's collar near the chest, not too high, to avoid arm extension. Keep the elbow close to your body and drop it to your knee for safety and strength.
  2. With your other hand, control the opponent's pant leg near the ankle. Step back slightly with your leg that's inside the De La Riva hook.
  3. Step over the opponent's leg, turning your knee inwards and cutting across to the side to force the RDLR position.
  4. Stay low to maintain control, extend your left leg, and use the inside of your foot to apply pressure on the opponent.
  5. Change your grip from the collar to the side of the opponent's hip, using your elbow and forearm to prevent them from swinging their leg around.
  6. With your left hand, grip the outside of the opponent's knee. Lift your hip slightly to create mobility for the next step.
  7. Turn your knee in and circle your leg around, maintaining contact with the opponent's leg, and slide into the leg drag position.
  8. Once in the leg drag, you can either go over the opponent's leg or drop your elbow in, similar to the initial collar grip setup, to secure the position.
  9. From here, you're in a strong position to pass the guard, take the back, or set up submissions.

Key points include keeping a low base, maintaining tight grips, and using your body effectively to transition into and control the RDLR position before executing the leg drag.
