About this video

Executing the duck under pass against an opponent's counter to the leg drag:

  1. Start in the De La Riva guard and break it by pushing on the inside of the opponent's knee, stepping forward into the leg drag position.
  2. As you collapse to the side for the leg drag, the opponent will attempt to swing their leg over to prevent the pass.
  3. React by grabbing their quad and closing the gap with your shoulder against their leg, sliding your opposite hand back to pin their leg to the mat.
  4. Transition to the duck under position by stepping your left foot over first, followed by your right foot, in a one-two motion.
  5. Drive your left knee to the mat while keeping your right knee close to their hip, maintaining the grip on their leg the entire time.
  6. Keep the grip tight to your hip, using your bicep, shoulder, and chest to control their leg, avoiding reaching for the collar as it may create space for the opponent to escape.
  7. Ensure both hands are always on the opponent to maintain pressure and prevent them from creating space.
  8. From this position, you can proceed to execute passes or back takes as previously instructed.
