About this video
Executing a rolling foot lock from half guard when the opponent begins a sweep:
- Trap the opponent's leg with your own to prevent the sweep.
- Reach across with one hand to grab the opponent's thigh.
- Post your other hand on the mat to create a frame and control the opponent's armpit.
- Shift your weight completely onto your shoulder.
- Use the leg that's trapping the opponent's leg to jump and position yourself for the foot lock.
- Push with the leg on the mat and pull with the leg that's trapping to roll into position.
- Trap the opponent's free leg with your foot and reach to secure it.
- Rotate onto the opposite hip from the trapped leg, similar to a previous finish shown.
- Squeeze your knees together for control.
- Apply the submission by going down with your elbow and lifting up, securing a strong foot lock with both of the opponent's legs trapped.
