About this video

Executing a rolling foot lock from half guard when the opponent begins a sweep:

  1. Trap the opponent's leg with your own to prevent the sweep.
  2. Reach across with one hand to grab the opponent's thigh.
  3. Post your other hand on the mat to create a frame and control the opponent's armpit.
  4. Shift your weight completely onto your shoulder.
  5. Use the leg that's trapping the opponent's leg to jump and position yourself for the foot lock.
  6. Push with the leg on the mat and pull with the leg that's trapping to roll into position.
  7. Trap the opponent's free leg with your foot and reach to secure it.
  8. Rotate onto the opposite hip from the trapped leg, similar to a previous finish shown.
  9. Squeeze your knees together for control.
  10. Apply the submission by going down with your elbow and lifting up, securing a strong foot lock with both of the opponent's legs trapped.
