About this video

Countering the basic escape from a footlock position involves predicting the opponent's movements and using your body to maintain control and transition into a submission. When the opponent starts to escape:

  1. Reach with your hand and turn your back towards the opponent.
  2. Place your shin slightly above their knee, resembling a Knee on Belly position.
  3. Get into position by lifting your other leg, which allows you to arch your back and go for the submission.
  4. If the opponent attempts to counter by straightening their leg or moving towards your back:
  5. Lift slightly to create space.
  6. Shoot your leg through the created space.
  7. Reposition yourself to secure the finish.

This sequence ensures that you stay ahead of the opponent's escape attempts and allows you to transition into a finishing submission.
