About this video

When attacking from a footlock position, opponents often try to clear the attacking leg to escape. To counter this:

  1. Trap the opponent's leg by lifting it, which helps control their hips.
  2. Secure control over both legs to limit the opponent's movement.
  3. Switch your attack to the other leg, aiming to get into a perfect position for a finish.
  4. As the opponent attempts to escape again, repeat the process of lifting and trapping their leg, then switch to the choke.
  5. Practice this sequence as a drill to become fast and precise in repositioning for the finish.
  6. Ensure you are tight and in good position before attempting to switch and grab the other leg.
  7. When switching legs, immediately move to secure the submission.
