About this video

From the butterfly guard position, the goal is to shoot one leg under the opponent's thigh, aiming to bring both knees as close together as possible. This sets up the foundation for the footlock.

  1. Begin by threading the leg through under the opponent's thigh.
  2. Work to connect both knees tightly together.
  3. Position the heel in the desired location to control the opponent's leg.
  4. Switch the base from the back to the side by threading the heel through.
  5. Trap the opponent's leg by positioning the knee behind their leg.
  6. Ensure the heel and knee are connected properly for a secure hold.
  7. Shift the opponent onto their side to finalize the position.
  8. Move onto the shoulder to apply the finishing pressure for the footlock.

This sequence sets up a strong position for a footlock finish from the butterfly guard.
