About this video
To execute a powerful leg lock, position yourself on your hip and squeeze your opponent's leg. Instead of pulling back, focus on moving your elbow downwards while simultaneously lifting upwards in the direction of your opponent's far side hip.
- Squeeze the opponent's leg and pull your elbow down towards the mat, then lift upwards, targeting the far side hip.
- While executing the leg lock, ensure to squeeze your legs together and press the opponent's hip down to the mat.
- If possible, grab the opponent's far side leg with your foot to block their movement and prevent them from getting to their knees.
- Maintain control by pushing the opponent down and securing their thigh to stop them from scooping their leg out and escaping.
- For the submission, stay on your hip, control everything tightly, squeeze your elbow down, and lift upwards.
- Remember, the only part of your body that should move backwards is your elbow, which helps to apply pressure and control the opponent's thigh as you complete the submission.
It's crucial to avoid lying flat on your back during this submission, as this position limits your ability to apply further pressure. Instead, maintain your side position to maximize leverage and control.
