About this video
Transitioning from a failed single leg takedown to an Over Hook X-Guard:
- While attempting a single leg takedown, if it's unsuccessful, place your foot on your opponent's hip.
- Lift your hips to off-balance your opponent, which may result in them falling or you moving into a submission position.
- If they don't fall, you'll likely end up in the Over Hook X-Guard position.
- From here, go onto your shoulder and push away from your opponent to set up a finish.
- If you're not comfortable with the finish from this position, you can place your foot back on the hip and then attempt the finish.
- Control the single leg position and try to execute the first finish. If it fails, shoot your leg through and lift your hips again.
- Immediately go for the finish by pushing away and going in. Alternatively, return your foot to the hip, push away, and reach back for the finish.
