About this video
Addressing two common issues when an opponent resists tapping to a triangle choke:
- Ensure the opponent's shoulder is covered by your legs. If you can see their shoulder, the triangle is likely not tight enough. Adjust by shooting your leg over their shoulder to hide it, which reduces their space to breathe.
- After adjusting the triangle, if the opponent still resists, use an alternative finish. Place your hands on the mat and shrimp your hips out to create room. Then hook your top leg inside their leg. Apply pressure by kicking through to finalize the submission.
If the opponent follows you while you shrimp out, maintain a good pace with your hands. Once you have enough space, hook your leg inside and push through to secure the choke.
