About this video
Initiate the sweep from Reverse De La Riva by placing one foot on the bicep, similar to a Spider Guard position, while maintaining a Reverse De La Riva hook with the other leg. Control both sleeves as you would in Spider Guard.
- Move the opponent around to off-balance them, setting them up for the sweep. Extend your legs to make the opponent shift their weight back.
- Bring your foot over your head and dive their arm in between their legs. In one fluid motion, start rolling onto your shoulder.
- Continue rolling until you reach the top position, ending up in half guard.
- Transition to an underhook with the hand that was holding the sleeve, take a short step back, and overhook with the opposite arm.
- Place your head on the mat next to the opponent's head to control their posture.
- Cut through their guard to pass, ensuring you don't remain on your side for too long. Turn towards the opponent with your toes on the mat.
- Secure head and arm control to establish the pass and score three points.
Emphasize movement and off-balancing the opponent before attempting the sweep. Once on top, quickly transition to secure the underhook and pass the guard, maintaining control throughout the process.
