About this video

Transitioning from the De La Riva position to mount through a berimbolo variation:

  1. Start by pulling the opponent towards you using the front of their belt, slightly lifting their weight off their feet.
  2. Kick forward and go inverted, keeping your head close to their hip and your feet in constant contact with their hips and legs.
  3. If you're unable to execute a leg drag or bring their knee across, post on the mat with your hand to gain momentum and kick back.
  4. Immediately turn into your opponent and slide into the mounted position, securing it.
  5. In the mount, instead of keeping your toes on the mat, place your laces on the mat with your toes close together to prevent the opponent from escaping their hips and replacing half guard.
  6. Stay low in the mount to maintain control and prepare for potential submissions such as chokes and arm locks.

Remember, the details of keeping the laces on the mat and toes close together can significantly improve control in the mounted position.
