About this video

Transitioning from Reverse De La Riva to 50/50 with the goal of taking the back:

  1. Start with the same entry into 50/50 as previously shown, spinning around the opponent's leg.
  2. If the opponent leans back to prevent the back take, use this to transition into the 50/50 position.
  3. Instead of sweeping, which can lead to a back-and-forth battle, aim to take the back for a more dominant position.
  4. Release the 50/50 figure four and place your left hook on the opponent's left quad to off-balance them.
  5. Control the back of the opponent's belt with your right hand.
  6. Extract your right foot and bring your knee in towards the opponent's back, sliding your shin behind their knee.
  7. Kick out with your shin, pull the opponent in, and secure a seatbelt grip before inserting both hooks.
  8. By taking the back, you secure four points and create an opportunity to finish the match with a submission.

Key details include maintaining distance with a foot on the opponent's shoulder or hip and a hand posting on their chest. When spinning underneath, control the opponent's hamstring to facilitate the back take. Always secure the seatbelt grip before the hooks to maintain control.
