About this video
Transitioning from Reverse De La Riva (RDLR) to Berimbolo involves a series of steps to effectively control the opponent and secure the back. Begin in RDLR with one foot on the opponent's shoulder or hip to maintain distance, ensuring the foot is flexed to prevent the opponent from moving freely.
- Use the right arm to underhook and the left hand to post on the opponent's chest, avoiding grabbing the collar to prevent pulling the opponent closer.
- Spin underneath the opponent, transferring the right hand to bring their leg over to the left hand, setting up the perfect position for the Berimbolo.
- Reach for the opponent's belt and start spinning underneath towards the back.
- Ensure chest-to-back contact, secure a seatbelt grip, keep the head close to the opponent's head, and establish both hooks to take the back.
- If the opponent sits back to defend, push their leg down and reach with the left hand to control the ankle.
- Sit up, control the belt, and spin over the left shoulder, planting both feet on the hips to prepare for any Berimbolo variation previously learned.
- Complete the technique by securing the back with a tight chest-to-back connection, a seatbelt grip, and both hooks in place.
This sequence allows for a smooth transition from RDLR to Berimbolo, capitalizing on the opponent's defensive posture to gain back control.
