About this video

Transitioning from De La Riva to Omoplata:

  1. Start with a cross collar and sleeve grip, ensuring the De La Riva hook is in place with a flexed foot and the other foot on the opponent's hip.
  2. Extend the opponent to your right side, turning to the right and pulling down on their collar to force their hand to post on the mat, preventing them from establishing Reverse De La Riva.
  3. Step your left foot on their hip, lift your hips up, and use the grip to turn their hand downward into a Kimura-like position.
  4. Place your left knee over their shoulder, clamping down tightly to prevent them from pulling their arm out.
  5. Step your leg over into the Omoplata position and secure a figure-four lock.
  6. To finish, hold the opponent's pant leg with your left hand and grab their belt with your right hand. If the belt is not accessible, grab the skirt of the gi or pants.
  7. Push their legs out and pull their hips towards you, flattening their back on the mat.
  8. Extend your legs forward, bring your arm over to prevent them from rolling, and shift both feet to your right side.
  9. Lean towards their ear to secure the finish.

Emphasize keeping each step tight and precise to prevent the opponent from escaping and to capitalize on the submission opportunity.
