About this video
This technique involves using the arm sling position to set up a gi choke and a neck crank from the crucifix position.
- Start by opening up your opponent and putting them onto their elbow, transitioning into the crucifix position. Your opponent will naturally try to come onto their knees.
- React to this by performing a forward roll. Your shoulder should go to the ground and your top leg should kick off the ground as you roll.
- Once you've rolled, you should be in the sling position with your knees tight in the crucifix. This makes it difficult for your opponent to move or break free.
- From here, take your free hand and go for a choke by sliding it underneath the collar. You can then transition into a judo choke by releasing the grip, raising your arm high, and sliding your hand underneath the arm, finishing the choke.
- If your opponent tucks their chin to defend against the choke, you can adjust by coming underneath the ear and getting underneath the chin to still secure the choke.
- If you're unable to choke your opponent due to their physical attributes or the rules of the competition, you can transition into a neck crank. Maintain the hook behind the head to prevent your opponent from rolling to the other side.
- Swim your free hand inside so that your armpit is trapping their arm. Connect your hand next to their ear, secure a 10 finger grip, and pull to execute the neck crank.
