About this video

When in the arm sling position and your opponent plays super tight, preventing you from getting your hand in for the crucifix position, you can take the following steps:

  1. Open up the collar and insert four fingers.
  2. Get up on your feet and lift your opponent.
  3. Use your back leg to slip in and come up for half back. This gives you an advantage as your opponent has nothing to block with, allowing you to secure four points.
  4. Ensure your grip is tight. If you only put your thumb in, you won't be able to lift your opponent. So, get four fingers in for added pressure.
  5. For extra pressure, you can put your fist in your opponent's throat as you come up.
  6. Take a step, lift, and let your outside leg come over, then fall into half back.
  7. Secure your position and get the four points. Due to the position, your opponent will fall on the wrong side, making it hard for them to escape.
  8. Instead of crossing your feet, which can be a mistake, use knee inversion and get the body triangle instead. This might not be possible for everyone due to the size of their opponent or their leg length, but it's an option.
