About this video
Executing a Kneebar when an opponent breaks the grip in Spider Guard:
- As the opponent breaks the grip, keep your arm out from under their foot and hook their ankle.
- Invert completely, ensuring to plant your legs firmly on the ground.
- If the opponent rolls forward, position their heel next to your shoulder and arch your back to apply the Kneebar.
- Should the opponent be flexible or continue to move, place your arm in front of their heel and extend to finish the submission.
- To set up, extend your leg in Spider Guard as usual, but when the grip is broken, immediately move to grab the ankle.
- After inverting and clamping down, ensure your heel is in front of your shin and your foot is in front of the opponent's leg.
- Extend your body to apply pressure, and if necessary, use your arm to reinforce the extension for the submission.
