About this video

Transitioning from an ankle pick to an armbar:

  1. When attempting to go overhead and the opponent puts their weight back, adjust by placing feet on the sides of their hips and pinching knees together.
  2. Grab the back of their ankles and create a wall with your legs, then push to off-balance them and lift their legs to prevent them from standing up.
  3. Turn to the side and grab their collar. With the advantage of controlling the collar, post on the mat to prepare for the next move.
  4. Execute a movement similar to an arm drag, bringing hips over and stepping on the mat to scoop the opponent's arm.
  5. As you put your weight back, trap the opponent's arm to your chest and collar, then pass your leg over their head.
  6. Secure a kimura grip on the arm, squeeze your legs together, and extend for the armbar submission.
