About this video
Transitioning from an ankle pick to an armbar:
- When attempting to go overhead and the opponent puts their weight back, adjust by placing feet on the sides of their hips and pinching knees together.
- Grab the back of their ankles and create a wall with your legs, then push to off-balance them and lift their legs to prevent them from standing up.
- Turn to the side and grab their collar. With the advantage of controlling the collar, post on the mat to prepare for the next move.
- Execute a movement similar to an arm drag, bringing hips over and stepping on the mat to scoop the opponent's arm.
- As you put your weight back, trap the opponent's arm to your chest and collar, then pass your leg over their head.
- Secure a kimura grip on the arm, squeeze your legs together, and extend for the armbar submission.
